Cardiology Physician Assistant Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic interpretation
- Provide care across outpatient clinic and inpatient settings
- Manage pre-procedure and post-procedure cardiac patients in collaboration with cardiology providers
- Serve as Surgical First Assist in cardiovascular procedures within scope and credentialing
- Develop and implement treatment plans for acute and chronic cardiac conditions
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests including ECGs, stress tests, imaging, and lab results
- Perform delegated clinical procedures such as wound care, suture removal, and line support
- Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions, medications, and follow-up care
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record
- Collaborate with cardiologists, surgeons, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical protocol development

Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current NCCPA certification required
- Active Michigan Physician Assistant license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1–2 years of cardiology or surgical experience required
- Surgical first assist experience strongly preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities
