RN First Assistant - Davinci Robotics Operating Room

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position.

Shifts are Monday to Friday during daytime hours with on-call responsibilities until 11 PM. Weekend and holiday shifts are not required, but evening on-call is expected.

Job Description

The RN First Assistant (RNFA) is a highly trained registered nurse who collaborates with surgeons and the healthcare team to perform safe and effective operations, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients. The RNFA will be responsible for practicing perioperative nursing in collaboration with the surgical team during the operative phase of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon during procedures by performing tasks as directed.
• Practice perioperative nursing with the necessary knowledge, skills, and judgment.
• Perform duties of an OR staff RN when not assigned in the RNFA role.
• Utilize robotic technology in surgical interventions, particularly DaVinci robotics.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS Registered Professional Nurse License.
• Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant course.
• CNOR certification is required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of OR experience, preferably in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Robotic surgery experience in multiple specialties, including:
  • Robotic Urology
  • Robotic GYN
  • Robotic Colorectal
  • Robotic Surgical Oncology
  • Robotic Thoracic
  • Robotic General Surgery
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association) is required; ACLS preferred.
