Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)

Role:
The RNFA provides direct perioperative patient care and serves as the first assistant to the surgeon in the Operating Room and Labor & Delivery Suite. The position requires advanced perioperative nursing knowledge, clinical skills, and judgment gained through formal education and supervised practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons as the first assistant during surgical procedures.
• Provide direct patient care within the expanded perioperative nursing role.
• Work under the supervision of the surgeon in the OR and Labor & Delivery Suite.
• Apply advanced perioperative nursing knowledge and skills to support safe patient care.

Required Qualifications:

• CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification.
• Current California RN license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current ACLS certification/recognition.
