Job Description
Overview
Under the direct supervision of anatomical pathology management, retrieves and accessions anatomic pathology specimens. Prepares fluid and tissue specimens for evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
Retrieves surgical pathology and cytology specimens from designated locations.
Accessions cytopathology and/or surgical pathology specimens.
Checks accuracy of specimen labeling; identifies and initiates steps to resolve discrepancies.
Answers phones and responds to customer inquiries and requests.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
Experience: One year of laboratory experience is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Effective verbal and communication skills required.
