What You Will Do:
- Under the supervision of the Area Director of Surgical Services, the Surgical Assistant assists the operating surgeon in the care of patients in surgery and performs selected duties.
- Surgical Skills: Assists and scrubs in surgery. Maintains homeostasis, handling of tissue, and closing of wound layers as directed by the surgeon.
- Case Preparedness: Prepares for all cases by having the correct working equipment, instrumentation, and supplies.
- Facilitator: Facilitates timely starts by supervising or performing the opening of the case, positioning, catheter placement prepping and draping so that the schedule flows smoothly.
- Self-Education: Maintains and updates self-knowledge and skill of instruments, equipment, and specialty techniques.
- Surgical Environment: Provides a safe, professional and efficient environment for the surgical patient, maintaining asepsis and knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to the surgical procedure.
- Maintains established company/hospital policies, procedures, directives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards appropriate to this position.
- Represents FRMC to the community. Acts as an ambassador and advocate for FRMC.
What You Will Need:
- CSTFA or RN. Candidate must have or be working toward being a graduate of an accredited program and certified as a Certified Surgical Technician Certified First Assist (CSTCFA) or a Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA).
- Minimum of four (4) years related experience in the Operating Room.
- Strong attention to details, high degree of persuasiveness.
